Intelligent fixed ANPR systems

Various government agencies make use of Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) systems to identify and track vehicles at specific locations within the road network. These locations are generally alongside or near motorways, where a camera is attached to some kind of permanent structure and linked to a CatchKen system. The CatchKen reads the license plates and, if necessary, transmits the information to the unit responsible for taking appropriate action.

This can also be done with the help of so-called ‘intelligent’ ANPR cameras which read the license plates of the vehicles passing by, one by one, and then immediately send the information to the associated control room. There the incoming vehicle data is processed and hits are forwarded to the police for appropriate action. Depending on the specific situation and required capacity, CatchSystems can choose from a wide range of options and provide appropriate follow-up recommendations.
